Days of future past with ‘X-Men’ alumnus John Byrne

Saturday, November 2, 2013
As fan excitement mounts over the forthcoming movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” now’s a good time to revive an interview with one of the men who created the stories on which the movie’s based: Artist and writer John Byrne.

Return now to Evanston, Ill., in 1982, when I sat down with Byrne to talk about his time on Marvel Comics’ X-Men title, his then-new assignment overseeing Fantastic Four and his then-just-theoretical plans to take over Superman for rival DC Comics — a move he in fact made four years later.

Can you catch the Bill Murray cameo here?

Note: This interview was later illustrated by comics fan Brian Hayes.
